An interiors enthusiast has transformed her drab bathroom into a stunning Scandi-inspired retreat with a 'resort feel'— and it's the ultimate sanctuary.
Adele Armstrong, who runs Instagram account @hallie_and_harrisons_house, trawled Pinterest for bathroom inspiration that would suit the calming colour palette of her Scottish family home.
The original suite – which had an awkward shower hose connecting to the bath filler – was replaced with a walk-in shower and on-trend freestanding bath. It might have looked tired and dull beforehand, but it was incredibly spacious, meaning Adele could also add in the wall-mounted vanity she was dreaming of.
In order to design the space, Adele stripped back bricks, layered a new subfloor, added insulation, and reframed the walls. After everything old was ripped out, work could begin on the tiling and spa-like wooden cladding — one of our favourite features.
Adele told bathroom retailer Drench: 'It's the room we waited for the longest to do. We lived with the old bathroom for four years, so it felt amazing to finally get it done. I would definitely describe my style as Scandinavian. But also as warm, modern.'
Spending around £5,000 in total, Adele said the key to keeping costs down is to try and do most things yourself. 'My husband is a joiner and can turn his hand to most things. I'm always happy to get involved and do all the painting. We are about to start another bathroom project and got a massive quote to add some micro cement. Instead, I've sourced the materials myself and I'm going to give it a go!'
